Youth Mentorship Network

Many youth within diaspora communities in the United States face barriers in accessing structured academic guidance, career planning resources, and professional networks. While families often prioritize education as a pathway to opportunity, students may lack access to mentors who can provide insight into academic pathways, college admissions processes, professional careers, and workplace expectations.

First-generation students in particular may struggle to navigate complex educational systems, scholarship applications, internships, and career planning. Parents, although supportive, may not be fully familiar with U.S. academic and professional systems. As a result, youth may feel uncertain about career options, lack confidence in pursuing competitive fields, or miss critical opportunities for academic advancement.

Without structured mentorship, young people may:

•Experience limited exposure to professional career pathways

•Lack guidance in selecting academic programs aligned with long-term goals

•Struggle with college preparation and scholarship applications

•Face reduced access to internships and networking opportunities

•Feel isolated in navigating career and educational challenges

This gap in structured mentorship can lead to underemployment, misaligned academic decisions, or lost potential among talented youth.

Purpose of the Project
