Regional Chapters

Grassroots Representation and Local Implementation

The Regional and State Chapters of the Nuba Mountains International Association  (NMIA) serve as the grassroots arms of the organization, extending its mission, programs, and services to Nuba communities across the United States and in partner regions abroad.

These chapters ensure that NMIA remains community-centered, locally responsive, and nationally coordinated, while maintaining strong links between the diaspora and the homeland.

Purpose

Regional and State Chapters are established to:

  • Strengthen community unity and participation at the local level
  • Implement national programs and initiatives within their jurisdictions
  • Identify community needs and priorities
  • Mobilize members, volunteers, and resources
  • Serve as communication bridges between members and national leadership

 Structure

Each Regional or State Chapter shall have its own leadership structure, aligned with NMIA’s Constitution and By-Laws, typically consisting of:

  • Chapter Chairperson
  • Vice Chairperson
  • Secretary
  • Treasurer
  • Program Coordinators (as needed)


Chapter leaders are elected by local members and operate under the supervision of the National Executive Leadership.

Roles & Responsibilities

Regional and State Chapters shall:

  • Represent NMIA within their local communities
  • Organize community meetings, cultural events, and outreach activities
  • Support membership recruitment and retention
  • Coordinate implementation of education, health, youth, and humanitarian programs
  • Maintain accurate membership and financial records
  • Submit regular activity and financial reports to the National Secretariat
  • Promote unity, inclusion, and adherence to NMIA’s values

 Accountability & Coordination

  • All Chapters are accountable to the National Executive Leadership
  • Activities must align with NMIA’s strategic plans and policies
  • Financial operations are subject to national oversight and audit
  • Chapters collaborate with Standing Committees and partner organizations

Regional and State Chapters ensure that NMIA remains accessible, representative, and effective, allowing community voices to shape national priorities while delivering services directly where people live.
