Refugee Youth Education Support

Refugee youth living in diaspora settings—particularly in refugee camps and underserved host communities—face significant educational challenges due to displacement, poverty, overcrowded schools, limited learning materials, and disruptions caused by conflict. Many students have experienced interrupted education, gaps in foundational learning, and trauma that affects concentration and academic performance.

Overcrowded classrooms and limited teacher capacity often prevent individualized attention for struggling students. As a result, many refugee youth fall behind academically, struggle with national exam requirements, and face high dropout rates. Limited access to structured after-school support further widens learning gaps.

In addition, exam preparation resources and structured academic mentoring are often unavailable or unaffordable. Students preparing for national examinations may lack access to study guides, revision sessions, or academic coaching, reducing their chances of progressing to higher education or vocational pathways.

Beyond academic support, many youth lack exposure to entrepreneurship education or practical life skills that prepare them for future employment or self-reliance. Without educational reinforcement and career preparation, refugee youth risk prolonged unemployment, economic vulnerability, and limited life opportunities.

As a result:

•Academic performance declines due to learning gaps

•Dropout rates increase

•Exam pass rates remain low

•Youth lose motivation and confidence

•Opportunities for higher education and employment decrease

Without structured educational support interventions, refugee youth remain at risk of long-term educational and economic marginalization.
