NMIA’s achievements reflect our steady progress in strengthening unity, building institutional capacity, and advancing community-focused initiatives for the Nuba people.

Through dedicated leadership and collective effort, we have strengthened governance structures, expanded community engagement across the diaspora, and laid the groundwork for effective humanitarian, educational, advocacy, and peacebuilding programs.

These achievements demonstrate our commitment to accountability, transparency, and long-term impact, while positioning NMIA to scale its services and deepen its presence in both the diaspora and the homeland.

Achievements by Program Area

Education & Capacity Building

Goal: Empower the Nuba people through access to education and skills development.

Key Achievements:

  • 45 scholarships awarded to Nuba students in the U.S., Kenya, and Sudan.
  • 3 Teacher training workshops organized in Kakuma and Yida refugee camps.
  • Launch of “Nuba Education Fund” to support needy students.
  • Partnership established with Cambridge Universal College (Kenya) for vocational training.
  • Online learning hub designed for diaspora students.


Impact: Over 1,200 learners directly benefited from NMIA’s education initiatives.

Health & Public Sanitation

Goal: Improve community health and hygiene for Nuba diaspora and homeland populations.


Key Achievements:

  • Two medical missions conducted in Kakuma and Heiban, reaching 3,000 people.
  • Public health awareness campaigns on hygiene and maternal care.
  • Distributed 1,500 hygiene kits to displaced families.
  • Conducted mental health counseling sessions for trauma survivors.
  • Began feasibility studies for clean water projects in Nuba Mountains villages.

Humanitarian & Disaster Response


Goal: Support displaced and war-affected Nuba families with relief and recovery services.

  • Coordinated fundraising drives raising over $60,000 for humanitarian relief.
  • Established the NMIA Humanitarian Response Desk in collaboration with Sudan Hope Project.

  • Published the first Humanitarian Situation Report (2025).

Economic Development & Investment

Goal: Promote economic empowerment, entrepreneurship, and sustainable livelihoods.

Key Achievements:

  • Created Nuba Economic Empowerment Initiative (NEEI) for small-scale investors.
  • Trained 80 youth and women entrepreneurs in business management.
  • Launched the Nuba Development & Investment Fund (NDIF).
  • Supported agriculture-based cooperatives in South Kordofan and Blue Nile.
  • Engaged diaspora professionals to advise on microenterprise development.

Gender & Women Empowerment Goal:
 Build women’s capacity and leadership in community and economic development.

  • Organized Women Empowerment Summit (Memphis, 2025) with 300 participants.

  • Conducted training on women’s rights and leadership for state chapter representatives.
  • Established the Nuba Women Network to promote collaboration.

Advocacy & Human Rights

Goal: Amplify Nuba voices, defend human rights, and promote international awareness.

  • Hosted Leadership Training & Cultural Night in Tennessee and Nebraska.
  • Sponsored 15 youth delegates to international conferences on peace and innovation.

Reconciliation & Peacebuilding
