The Nuba Mountains region has endured prolonged conflict, economic disruption, infrastructure destruction, and limited access to formal employment opportunities. As a result, youth unemployment and underemployment remain critically high.
Many young people have completed basic education—or possess valuable informal skills—but lack access to capital, mentorship, structured incubation systems, and market linkages necessary to translate ideas into viable businesses.
Years of instability have weakened local markets, reduced investment, and limited exposure to modern entrepreneurship practices. Youth with innovative ideas often face:
•Lack of startup capital
•Limited business development knowledge
•Absence of mentorship and coaching
•Poor access to markets and supply chains
•Minimal exposure to innovation ecosystems
•Fear of business failure due to limited support structures
Without structured entrepreneurship support, many youth remain dependent on subsistence activities or migrate in search of economic survival. This cycle contributes to economic stagnation, social frustration, and increased vulnerability to negative influences. The region’s economic recovery and long-term stability are therefore hindered by the absence of youth-driven enterprise development systems.
If not addressed, this gap risks wasting the region’s most valuable resource—its young, energetic, and innovative population.
Purpose of the Project
