College & Career Pathways Initiative

Many students within diaspora and underserved communities in the United States aspire to pursue higher education and meaningful careers, yet face systemic and informational barriers that limit their access to opportunity. First-generation college students, in particular, often navigate complex academic systems without adequate guidance on scholarship opportunities, financial aid processes, university admissions requirements, and internship pathways.

Although families strongly value education, parents may be unfamiliar with the intricacies of college preparation, standardized testing, FAFSA applications, scholarship searches, and competitive program admissions. Without structured guidance, students may miss deadlines, underapply to scholarships, or choose academic paths that do not align with long-term career goals.

In addition, limited access to professional networks and internship opportunities restricts students’ exposure to real-world career environments. Without practical experiences and mentorship, students may graduate without competitive resumes or clear career direction.

As a result:

•Talented students may forgo higher education due to financial barriers

•Scholarship and financial aid opportunities may go unused

•Students may select misaligned academic programs

•Internship access may remain limited

•Career pathways may lack clarity and strategic planning

•Underemployment and career dissatisfaction may increase

Without a coordinated initiative to guide students through college and career systems, significant human potential remains underdeveloped.
