Many youths within our community in the United States—particularly those from immigrant and refugee backgrounds—face significant barriers in accessing structured career pathways. Despite strong academic potential and ambition, they often lack professional networks, mentorship opportunities, and exposure to industry-specific career guidance. First-generation students, in particular, frequently navigate educational and career systems without sufficient support or role models.
As a result, many youths struggle to secure internships, professional placements, or scholarship opportunities that are critical for long-term career advancement. Without structured mentorship and access to career development resources, talented students may miss opportunities to build competitive resumes, gain workplace experience, or connect with professionals in their fields of interest. This gap contributes to underemployment, delayed career progression, and reduced earning potential.
Additionally, limited access to scholarship information and application support restricts educational attainment, especially for students from low-income families. Without intentional intervention, the opportunity gap widens, and youth potential remains underdeveloped—affecting not only individuals but also the broader economic strength of the community.
