Women living in diaspora settings—particularly in refugee camps and host communities—often face severe economic vulnerability due to displacement, limited formal education opportunities, restricted labor market access, and cultural barriers. Many women are primary caregivers responsible for children and extended family members, yet they lack access to stable income-generating opportunities.
In displacement environments, formal employment opportunities are scarce, and women frequently depend on humanitarian aid or irregular informal work. Without structured vocational skills training, many women remain economically dependent, which increases household instability and limits their ability to contribute to family resilience. Additionally, lack of access to modern skills—such as digital literacy or entrepreneurship training—further isolates women from emerging economic opportunities.
As a result:
•Household incomes remain unstable or insufficient
•Women’s economic independence is limited
•Families may experience food insecurity and financial stress
•Youth and children may face interrupted education due to economic hardship
•Women’s talents in tailoring, crafts, and food production remain underdeveloped
Without targeted intervention, the cycle of dependency and economic vulnerability will persist, affecting not only women but entire families and communities.
