Protection & Gender Rights Awareness

Women and vulnerable individuals living in diaspora contexts—particularly in refugee camps and host communities—often face heightened protection risks, including gender-based violence, domestic abuse, exploitation, early marriage, and limited access to justice systems. Displacement frequently weakens traditional protection structures, while poverty, overcrowding, trauma, and limited livelihood opportunities can intensify household stress and conflict.

Many beneficiaries lack awareness of their legal rights within host countries, including protections against domestic violence, child protection laws, and available support services. Cultural barriers, stigma, fear of retaliation, lack of confidential reporting channels, and limited trust in authorities often prevent survivors from seeking help. In some settings, women may not know how to safely report abuse or access legal and psychosocial services.

As a result:

•Cases of domestic violence and exploitation may go unreported

•Survivors may remain in unsafe environments

•Women and girls may face ongoing discrimination and abuse

•Families may lack awareness of legal protections and support systems

•Community silence around gender-based violence may persist

Without structured awareness programs and safe reporting mechanisms, vulnerable individuals remain exposed to harm, and protection systems remain underutilized.

Purpose of the Project

The Protection & Gender Rights Awareness Program aims to strengthen community protection systems by increasing awareness of legal rights, promoting prevention of domestic and gender-based violence, and establishing safe, confidential reporting channels.
