Nuba youth living in the United States face increasing cultural disconnection as they navigate identity formation within a multicultural society. Many young people grow up balancing American social environments with limited exposure to structured cultural education about their heritage. As a result, they often lack confidence in representing their identity within schools, universities, and public spaces.

Beneficiaries frequently experience:

•Limited understanding of Nuba history, traditions, and values

•Few opportunities to develop leadership skills rooted in cultural heritage

•Minimal representation of Nuba culture in school and civic settings

•Reduced intergenerational mentorship and guidance

Without structured cultural leadership development, youth may become disengaged from their heritage and lack the tools to positively represent their community. Schools and broader institutions often have limited awareness of Nuba culture, leading to underrepresentation and missed opportunities for cross-cultural understanding.

The absence of organized youth ambassador programs limits both cultural continuity within the community and positive representation externally.

Purpose of the Project

The Nuba Cultural Youth Ambassadors Program aims to empower young leaders to become confident cultural representatives within schools, universities, and community institutions across the United States.

The project seeks to strengthen cultural identity, leadership capacity, and public engagement by training youth to serve as ambassadors of Nuba heritage.
