Diaspora communities often carry the historical, political, and social divisions that existed in their homeland. Displacement, trauma, and migration can intensify misunderstandings, tribal tensions, and identity fragmentation within refugee and diaspora settings. In the absence of structured dialogue spaces, unresolved grievances and cultural differences may weaken unity and undermine collective progress.
Beneficiaries frequently experience:
•Identity confusion among youth growing up between cultures
•Lingering mistrust between community subgroups
•Limited platforms for constructive dialogue and reconciliation
•Intergenerational misunderstandings about cultural values
•Reduced community cohesion and collaborative engagement
Many individuals in diaspora settings carry memories of conflict, displacement, or marginalization. Without safe and facilitated spaces to discuss these experiences, divisions may persist. Younger generations may struggle to understand their cultural roots while simultaneously navigating integration into host societies. The absence of organized reconciliation initiatives limits opportunities for healing, unity, and collective vision-building.
Without structured peace dialogue programs, fragmentation may continue to hinder social harmony and community development.
