In many diaspora and refugee-hosting countries, displaced families face persistent economic instability due to limited employment opportunities, legal work restrictions, and lack of access to startup capital. While many individuals possess entrepreneurial skills and experience in small retail trade, food vending, and service-based activities, they lack the financial resources required to establish or expand income-generating businesses.
As a result, families remain dependent on irregular humanitarian assistance or informal labor that provides inconsistent and insufficient income. Many capable entrepreneurs are unable to start small shops, food vending operations, or service-based microenterprises due to the absence of affordable credit systems and structured financial support. Women-headed households and youth are particularly vulnerable, often bearing the responsibility of household survival without access to formal banking or microfinance institutions.
Without access to capital and organized financial systems, even viable business ideas remain unrealized. The lack of revolving loan mechanisms prevents economic growth, limits income diversification, and perpetuates cycles of poverty and dependency within displaced communities.
Purpose of the Project
The Microenterprise & Revolving Loan Fund project aims to stimulate sustainable livelihoods by providing small-scale startup capital through grants and structured revolving loan systems. The initiative seeks to empower vulnerable entrepreneurs to establish and grow small shop startups, food vending businesses, and service-based microenterprises while fostering a culture of financial responsibility and reinvestment.
