Many women within our community in the United States—particularly immigrant, refugee, and low-income women—possess valuable skills in areas such as catering, tailoring, childcare, crafts, consulting, and other home-based services. However, despite their potential, they face significant barriers in transforming these skills into sustainable and profitable businesses. Limited access to capital, lack of digital literacy, unfamiliarity with U.S. business regulations, and absence of professional networks prevent many women from scaling their entrepreneurial efforts.
As a result, women often operate informally without proper registration, marketing strategies, or access to online marketplaces. This limits their income potential, exposes them to financial vulnerability, and restricts their long-term economic growth. Additionally, many women lack branding knowledge, customer acquisition strategies, and e-commerce skills needed to compete in today’s digital economy. Without structured guidance, their businesses remain small, unstable, and unable to generate sufficient household income.
The absence of targeted support programs for women entrepreneurs perpetuates economic inequality and restricts women’s participation in wealth-building opportunities within the broader U.S. economy.
