Disability & Inclusive Health Support

Communities in the Nuba Mountains continue to experience the long-term consequences of conflict, limited medical infrastructure, and inadequate rehabilitation services. Many individuals live with physical disabilities caused by injury, untreated illness, congenital conditions, or chronic health complications. However, access to inclusive healthcare services and assistive devices remains extremely limited.

Beneficiaries often experience:

•Lack of access to mobility aids such as wheelchairs, crutches, and prosthetics

•Limited rehabilitation services and pain management options

•Physical barriers in accessing health facilities

•Social stigma and exclusion from community life

•Untreated chronic pain and musculoskeletal conditions

•Reduced economic participation due to physical limitations

Persons with disabilities frequently face isolation and diminished quality of life. Without assistive devices, individuals may be unable to attend school, work, or participate in community activities. Health facilities are often not equipped to provide inclusive services tailored to the needs of people with disabilities. Chronic pain and untreated musculoskeletal conditions further reduce independence and well-being.

The absence of structured inclusive health programs leaves many vulnerable individuals without the support necessary to live dignified and productive lives.

Purpose of the Project

The Disability & Inclusive Health Support Project aims to enhance access to inclusive healthcare services in the Nuba Mountains by providing assistive devices, rehabilitation support, and innovative therapeutic tools such as CeraGem devices, while promoting equitable access to health facilities.

The project seeks to restore dignity, mobility, and health equity for persons with disabilities and individuals with chronic physical conditions.

Key Project Activities

To achieve its objectives, the project will implement the following activities:

•Assessment and identification of persons requiring assistive devices

•Procurement and distribution of mobility aids (wheelchairs, crutches, walking frames, prosthetics)

•Introduction and supervised use of CeraGem therapeutic devices for pain relief and rehabilitation support

•Training of local health workers on inclusive healthcare practices

•Adaptation of selected health facilities to improve accessibility

•Community awareness campaigns to reduce stigma and promote inclusion

•Follow-up visits and monitoring of device utilization and health outcomes

•Collaboration with local disability support groups and community leaders

These activities will combine physical support, therapeutic services, and inclusive system strengthening.

Project Outcomes & Beneficiary Impact

Through this initiative, beneficiaries will experience:

•Improved mobility and independence

•Reduced chronic pain and improved physical well-being

•Increased access to inclusive healthcare services

•Enhanced participation in education, employment, and community life

•Reduced stigma and greater social inclusion

•Strengthened local capacity for disability-inclusive healthcare

Ultimately, the Disability & Inclusive Health Support Project will promote dignity, equity, and empowerment for persons with disabilities in the Nuba Mountains. By integrating assistive devices, therapeutic support, and inclusive healthcare reforms, the program will help restore independence, improve quality of life, and build more inclusive community systems in post-conflict settings.
