In many diaspora and refugee-hosting countries, displaced families continue to experience significant nutritional challenges, particularly among infants, young children, pregnant women, and lactating mothers. Due to economic hardship, limited access to diversified food sources, cultural adaptation challenges, and insufficient health education, many households lack accurate knowledge about balanced diets, breastfeeding practices, micronutrient needs, and safe infant feeding methods.
As a result, malnutrition, anemia, stunting, and weakened immunity remain prevalent among children under five. Pregnant and lactating mothers face heightened health risks due to iron deficiency, protein shortages, and poor dietary diversity. In some cases, misinformation or cultural misconceptions regarding infant feeding practices further compromise child growth and maternal health. Additionally, overstretched healthcare systems in refugee settings often lack sufficient outreach and community-based nutrition education support.
Without structured nutrition awareness initiatives, these preventable health conditions continue to undermine child development, maternal well-being, and long-term community resilience.
