National Executive Leadership

Programmatic Pillars for Service Delivery and Community Impact

The National Executive Leadership is the principal executive organ of the Nuba Mountains International Association (NMIA).

It is responsible for the overall management, coordination, and implementation of the Association’s vision, mission, policies, and programs, as approved by the General Assembly and overseen by the Board of Trustees.

This leadership body ensures that NMIA operates with integrity, transparency, unity, and effectiveness, serving both the Nuba diaspora in the United States and the communities in the homeland (Nuba Mountains).

Authority and Accountability

The National Executive Leadership:

  • Derives its authority from the General Assembly
  • Operates under the Constitution and By-Laws of NMIA Is accountable to the Board of Trustees and General Assembly
  • Exercises collective leadership through consultation and majority decision-making
Composition of National Executive Leadership

The National Executive Leadership of the Nuba Mountains International Association (NMIA) shall consist of the following elected and appointed officers, who collectively provide strategic leadership, executive management, and program oversight for the Association:

  • President / Chairperson
  • Vice President
  • Secretary General – and its Deputy
  • Chief Financial Officer – and its Deputy
  • Secretary of Planning & Project Management – and its Deputy
  • Secretary of Disaster Management & Humanitarian Affairs – and its Deputy
  • Secretary of Women & Gender Affairs – and its Deputy
  • Secretary of Youth & Generations Development – and its Deputy
  • Secretary of Public Relations & Media – and its Deputy
  • Secretary of Coordination & Foreign Relations – and its Deputy
Roles and Responsibilities (Collective)

The National Executive Leadership shall collectively:

  • Implement decisions and resolutions of the General Assembly
  • Execute NMIA’s strategic plans, annual work plans, and policies
  • Oversee all programs, projects, and standing committees
  • Manage the Association’s financial, administrative, and human resources
  • Represent NMIA at national, regional, and international levels
  • Ensure coordination among state chapters, committees, and partners
  • Prepare and submit annual narrative and financial reports
  • Uphold unity, inclusivity, and ethical leadership

Key Responsibilities by Office

President / Chairperson
  • Supports the Secretary General
  • Oversees internal coordination and follow-up on resolutions
  • Provides overall leadership and strategic direction
  • Represents NMIA in official and international engagements
  • Chairs Executive Leadership meetings and General Assembly sessions
  • Ensures implementation of constitutional mandates
Vice President
  • Assists the President and acts in their absence
  • Oversees special assignments and cross-committee coordination
Secretary General
  • Assists the President and acts in their absence
  • Oversees special assignments and cross-committee coordination
  • Serves as the chief administrative officer
  • Oversees Secretariat operations and documentation
  • Coordinates meetings, records minutes, and official correspondence
Deputy Secretary General
  • Supports the Secretary General
  • Oversees internal coordination and follow-up on resolutions
Chief Financial Officer
  • Manages financial assets and accounts
  • Ensures proper budgeting, accounting, and reporting
  • Works with auditors and finance committees

Secretaries (Sectoral Portfolios)

Each Secretary:

  • Leads programs within their thematic mandate
  • Coordinates relevant Standing Committees
  • Develops project proposals and implementation plans
  • Reports progress, challenges, and outcomes to the Executive
Term of Office
  • Members of the National Executive Leadership shall serve a Two (2)-year term
  • Terms may be renewed once, subject to constitutional provisions
  • Vacancies shall be filled according to the By-Laws
Meetings and Decision-Making
  • The National Executive Leadership meets quarterly or as needed
  • Emergency meetings may be convened by the President
  • Decisions are made by consensus or majority vote
  • Quorum requirements are defined in the By-Laws
Ethical Standards

All Executive Leaders shall:

  • Serve with honesty, integrity, and accountability
  • Avoid conflicts of interest, corruption, or favoritism
  • Promote unity among all Nuba communities
  • Respect diversity of religion, tribe, gender, and political views
  • Uphold NMIA’s Code of Conduct
Relationship With Other Organs

The National Executive Leadership works closely with:

  • Board of Trustees – strategic oversight and fiduciary guidance
  • Advisory Council – expert and moral counsel
  • Standing Committees – program design and implementation
  • State & Regional Chapters – grassroots mobilization and service delivery
