The year 2023 marked a significant period of organizational consolidation, strategic planning, and renewed commitment for the Nuba Mountains International Association – (NMIA). Amid ongoing humanitarian crises, displacement, and socio-economic challenges affecting the Nuba people in the diaspora and the homeland, NMIA focused on strengthening its governance structures, expanding community engagement, and laying a solid foundation for future institutional growth.
Throughout the year, NMIAreaffirmed its mission to unite the Nuba people, protect their dignity, and promote sustainable development through coordinated programs in education, humanitarian assistance, advocacy, peacebuilding, and cultural preservation.
NMIA is a nonprofit, nonpolitical, and community-based organization established to serve the Nuba people in the United States and to maintain strong connections with communities in the homeland (Nuba Mountains) and the wider diaspora.
Originally registered in Cairo, Egypt (1998) and later in the United States (2001), NMIA operates as a unifying umbrella organization committed to humanitarian service, institutional development, and diaspora–homeland coordination.

The year 2024 was a pivotal period of growth, institutional maturity, and strategic expansion for NMIA. The Association advanced from internal consolidation to outward engagement—strengthening governance, formalizing leadership systems, deepening diaspora unity, and taking decisive steps toward official registration and operational presence in South Sudan and the Nuba Mountains.
Throughout the year, NMIA remained steadfast in its mission to serve the Nuba people with dignity, enhance community coordination, and prepare for scaled humanitarian, development, and advocacy programming in response to escalating needs.

The year 2025 marked an important period of growth, organization, and community engagement for the Nuba Mountains International Association (NMIA). Throughout the year, the Association continued its commitment to serving the Nuba community in the United States while maintaining solidarity with the people of the Nuba Mountains and other affected communities in the homeland.
This annual report highlights the major activities, achievements, priorities, and lessons learned during the 2025 reporting period. It reflects NMIA’s efforts to strengthen institutional governance, expand community participation, promote cultural identity, support youth and women, advance advocacy efforts, and mobilize humanitarian and development support.
Despite financial and logistical challenges, the Association made meaningful progress in building a stronger organizational foundation and increasing its visibility within the community.
